The Documentation Package

International trade in food-grade hydrocolloids requires comprehensive documentation to satisfy customs authorities, food safety regulators, and quality assurance departments. For tara gum imports, the standard documentation package includes several essential components.

The Certificate of Origin confirms the country of production — typically Peru. The Certificate of Analysis provides batch-specific analytical data confirming food-grade quality, allergen-free status, and compliance with specification limits for viscosity, moisture, ash, protein, heavy metals, and microbiological parameters. The Technical Data Sheet details all product specifications and functional properties. The Material Safety Data Sheet covers handling, storage, and safety information. A GMO-free certificate confirms non-genetically modified status. And the Health certificate, issued by the exporting country's health authorities, confirms the product is fit for food use.

Quality Management Certification

Beyond product-specific documents, buyers increasingly require evidence of quality management system compliance. HACCP documentation demonstrates that the manufacturer has identified and controls food safety hazards. GMP certification confirms adherence to good manufacturing practices. ISO 9000 or FSSC 22000 certification provides the strongest assurance of systematic quality management.

Packaging Requirements

Standard packaging is 25 kg multi-wall paper bags with polyethylene lining. Marking requirements typically include production date, supplier identification, product name, net weight, food-use designation, grade, and recommended storage conditions. Information should be in English using metric measurements for international shipments.
